Cassano Spinola welcomes the Giro Rosa Iccrea. Passo Gavia Closed

The village in the Province of Alessandria (Piedmont) has welcomed the 24 teams and the 144 athletes from around the world that will fight to win the 30th edition of the Giro d'Italia Internazionale Femminile - Giro Rosa Iccrea. With various local and national federal and political authorities and a big crowd in the main square of Cassano Spinola, the love for the athletes has been really big.

The last winner Annemiek Van Vleuten, is back to repeat the victory taken in 2018. There are many contenders for the Dutch rider, like the Italians Elisa Longo Borghini, Soraya Paladin, Erica Magnaldi and Tatiana Guderzo, the world and olympic champion Anna Van der Breggen and her compatriot Marianne Vos, the australian climber Amanda Spratt, the Danish Cecilie Uttrup Ludwig, the Polish Katarzyna Niewiadoma and the South-African Ashleigh Moolman-Pasio.

The preparation of the presentation started in the first afternoon, with the license verification by the teams and the technical meeting with the jury and the organization of 4 Erre ASD with its President Giuseppe Rivolta. 

OFFICIAL, THE GAVIA PASS STAYS CLOSED: THE FINISH HAS BEEN MOVED TO LAGHI DI CANCANO. 

During the afternoon, a local meeting in Alta Valtellina took place to verify the safety of the road from Bormio to the Gavia Pass through Santa Caterina Valfurva. Due to a landslide above the road, the finish of the stage 5, with start in Ponte Valtellina, has been moved to the top of the climb to the Laghi di Cancano, Valdidentro (Sondrio) .

The stage route unchanges until passing from Valdisotto, then the race goes up to Le Motte, before reaching Isolaccia, where the final climb begins, which was already done in the Giro Rosa Iccrea 2011, in a stage won by the Brit Emma Pooley.
