Marianne Vos Tappa 7

Tris for Marianne Vos (CCC-Liv), who takes after Viù and Piedicavallo, the victory also in San Giorgio di Perlena/Fara Vicentino, finish of the Stage 7 which started in Cornedo Vicentino for 131.5 kms overall.

In the stage in Region Veneto with the final climb from Breganze (where Vos won last year), the victory arrived in a small sprint beating her compatriot Anna Van der Breggen (Boels - Dolmans) and Elisa Longo Borghini (Trek-Segafredo).

The stage was very battled since the first climb in Monte di Malo, won by Jasinska (Movistar) and the local rider Katia Ragusa (BePink) and Nadia Quagliotto (Alé - Cipollini: in the following downhill some athletes like Simona Frapport (BePink) and Nicole Nesti (Aromitalia - Basso Bikes - Vaiano) are involved in a crash and had to abandon. The peloton doesn't give chances for a breakaway, so the peloton arrives at the passage in San Giorgio di Perlena leaded by Soraya Paladin (Alé - Cipollini). Then Leah Kirchmann tries: the Canadian of the Team Sunweb does a solo breakaway until the climb of the Muro della Tisa, after being first on the top of La Rosina.

The peloton breaks itself on the final climb of San Giorgio di Perlena, the big riders gain some gap and there are many counterattacks. Marianne Vos leaded the attack then sprints to win, with the applause of the big crowd at the finish line to celebrate her 24th win in the Giro.

Annemiek Van Vleuten, 4th at the finish, keeps the Pink Jersey. Anna Van der Breggen is now second, instead of Katarzyna Niewiadoma (Canyon - SRAM) due to the time bonus.
